Springboard announces a grant for the California Student Debt Resouce Awareness Project (CASDRAP).
Springboard Non-Profit Consumer Credit Management has announced the award of a $10,000 grant to the California Student Debt Resource Awareness
Project (CASDRAP). CASDRAP is a statewide taskforce consisting of university administrators, non-profit financial education organizations (including Springboard), and student loan lending, servicing and guarantor entities. CASDRAP has created a comprehensive website that serves as a clearinghouse for educational materials and resources on debt and money issues for students, parents and college administrators. The website is www.StudentDebtHelp.org.
“These grant funds were made available to us by Citibank through their comprehensive credit counseling grant that they provide to us annually, so we really have Citi to thank” stated Dianne Wilkman, President/CEO of Springboard.” “From the beginning Citibank showed a lot of interest in the CASDRAP mission and we are very appreciative that they have recognized the value of our participation in CASDRAP by approving our request to support the task force’s general operations.”
CASDRAP got its start at San Diego State University, which formed a committee to implement AB 521, The Student Financial Responsibility Act (Koretz). The Act mandates that financial education be provided at Cal State and other California campuses and community colleges. The
law was enacted by the California legislature in 2002.
