Springboard is recognized as one of the largest nonprofit HUD-approved housing counseling agencies on the West Coast with offices in California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.
Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management is pleased to announce it has been approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a regional intermediary agency. This means that Springboard serves a distinct regional area with branches or affiliates in eight or fewer states. As a regional intermediary agency, Springboard provides training, technical assistance, oversight and pass through funding to regional affiliates or branches. Springboard is recognized as one of the largest nonprofit HUD-approved housing counseling agencies on the West Coast with offices in California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico.
Prior to this expanded regional status, Springboard was certified as Multi-State Organization (MSO) providing housing counseling services in California, Nevada, and Arizona. Established in 1974, Springboard is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community service organization that works to strengthen communities and improve the lives of consumers by offering services that promote financial literacy, homeownership and a healthy economy.
“We’re very pleased to receive this important distinction,” said Todd Emerson, Springboard’s president and chief executive officer. “This is a significant achievement for our agency and the communities we serve. Springboard has a highly trained staff that is dedicated to providing comprehensive housing counseling, quality financial education and expert assistance to individuals and families in need,” said Emerson.
Springboard’s core services include financial education; credit and debt counseling; debt management plans; bankruptcy counseling and housing counseling, including foreclosure prevention and reverse mortgage counseling. In 2009, more than 200,000 individuals nationwide contacted Springboard for counseling in credit and debt, bankruptcy, foreclosure and reverse mortgage.
Springboard’s new portal www.HomeOwnership.org allows consumers to access all HUD housing counseling services offered by the agency. Homeowners can schedule a priority counseling session with a certified housing counselor or may call a designated hotline for immediate help, seven days a week. Distressed homeowners can also visit www.HomeOwnership.org and enter basic information to determine the likelihood of a loan modification.
