Agency Donates 100 Food Baskets to Local Organizations
Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management will help make this Thanksgiving holiday special for Inland Empire families in need. "Inspired by Springboard Chief Financial Officer Marlisa Hodgin, Springboard commenced its second annual Thanksgiving basket donation," said Melinda Opperman senior vice president of community outreach and industry relations. "Springboard doubled its gift over last year," said Opperman.
Because of Springboard's commitment to helping others, 100 families will enjoy a tasty Thanksgiving meal that they otherwise would not be able to afford. Springboard is distributing the Thanksgiving baskets to approximately 50 community organizations and schools that identified families in great need. Springboard's SERVICE members assembled the baskets at the agency's headquarters in Riverside. SERVICE stands for (S)pringboard (E)mployees (R)ecognize (V)olunteerism (I)n our (C)ommunity & (E)nvironment.
"We're pleased to be able to assist families in need this Thanksgiving," said Hodgin. "We know that many families are facing uncertainty during this economic climate. Springboard is dedicated to providing help and assistance to the community."
Springboard SERVICE members are delivering baskets this week to organizations and schools in 17 cities throughout Riverside and San Bernardino County. The baskets include a frozen turkey and non-perishable food items.
Springboard's SHINE Center, also located in Riverside, has been a beacon of hope to an area facing the worst economic crisis in 60 years. The agency assists individuals and families on a daily basis with credit counseling, housing counseling, debt and money management through educational programs and confidential counseling. Springboard has helped thousands of Inland Empire residents with free counseling in the areas of homeownership preservation and foreclosure prevention, credit and debt counseling, and pre-purchase home buyer education this year.
