Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management is pleased to announce the grand opening of the organization’s SHINE Center, which stands for “Sustaining Homeownership in the Inland Empire”. The SHINE Center is located at 1605 Spruce Street in Riverside, and is the agency’s second location in Riverside County.
The financial education and counseling center, is being opened by Springboard, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a comprehensive housing counseling agency. Springboard has been trusted by consumers for more than 30 years and is dedicated to combating home foreclosures through free education and counseling.
“We’re pleased to celebrate this important milestone,” said Todd Emerson, Springboard’s President and CEO. “We realize that this is a very challenging economic climate for many consumers to maneuver. We’re committed to providing hands-on counseling and promoting personal financial education for everyone,” said Emerson.
Throughout the nation, Springboard offers assistance with money and credit management through educational programs and confidential credit counseling in both English and Spanish. The focus of operations at the SHINE Center include in-person counseling sessions, confidential telephone counseling sessions and financial literacy workshops on topics ranging from homebuyer education, the power of paycheck planning to the wise use of credit and understanding credit scores.
In recent months, analysts have ranked the Inland Empire second nationwide when it comes to home foreclosures. Springboard looks to be a leader in helping to bring stability to the Inland Empire community by providing consumers with sound financial education and counseling.
“We anticipate an even greater need for our services,” said Emerson. “We’re here to help. The SHINE Center will serve as a living, breathing beacon of hope for the growing number of Inland Empire residents tormented by the threat of foreclosure,” said Emerson.
In 2007, Springboard’s counselors conducted a record number of counseling sessions in the areas of foreclosure prevention, credit and debt counseling, bankruptcy pre-filing counseling and debtor education.
Springboard’s SHINE Center grand opening will kick-off at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 8th. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks by Emerson and Riverside Mayor Ronald Loveridge. Live entertainment, lunch and a public tour of the SHINE Center will follow.
